The Mayan Women of Sbelal Kuxlejalil Build Their Own Eco-Stoves

"This is what we accomplished as women."

The Mayan women who form the collective Sbelal Kuxlejalil, are building ecological stoves. In the process they are creating healthier homes and a safer environment for their children.

Supported by GPA’s Community-Designed Health Project Grants, these stoves reduce harmful smoke inhalation and prevent burns, transforming daily life for families in Guaquitepec, Chiapas, Mexico.

Through their collective efforts, the women of Sbelal Kuxlejalil are not only improving their own lives but also inspiring change across their community.
